Life Story / Obituary
Doris Arlene Roedema, 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday February 1, 2025 to be reunited with the love of her life of 66 years, LeRoy who preceded her on July 26, 2023.
Doris was born to the late Harry A and Lottie E (Spencer) Caskey on September 22, 1928. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply and loved to spend time with her family; family life was her life. She loved to travel. She and LeRoy traveled several years in a fifth wheel travel trailer in the 1990’s. Doris worked at Sunbeam in her early years. She lost her first husband, Othmar Weidenbenner, in a tragic car accident in May 1955. She met LeRoy in 1956, and they were married on April 29, 1957. She would say that LeRoy was her gladiator (she loved the movie “Gladiator” starring Russell Crowe). They both loved pipe organ music. Doris also liked to knit, sew and crochet. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sturtevant.
Doris will be deeply missed by her loving family Rodney Weidenbenner, Dennis (Annette) Weidenbenner, Christine (Christopher) Shiley, Shelley Shiley, Jeffrey Roedema, Todd (Lisa) Roedema, and Sarah (Michael) Marsh, 23 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren as well as brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her siblings Marvin, Virginia, Grace, Lloyd, Gerald, Wilber, Donald, Sharon, Glen and daughter-in-law Barbara. She is survived by siblings Florence, Warren, Roger, Donna and Judith.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday February 14, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a service celebrating Doris’s life to start at 4:00 p.m. To honor her memory with a memorial gift, send to Calvary Baptist Church 9122 Durand Ave, Sturtevant, WI 53177, https://cbcsturtevant.org/
The family would like to thank Pastor Richard Rogers of Calvary Baptist Church, Sturtevant and the staff at Home Harbor, Racine.
