December 15, 1925 – November 26, 2022

Surrounded by her loving family, Eleanor C. Burge, age 96, passed away at her residence, Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was born in Caledonia, December 15, 1925, daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Nee: Maller) Braun.

Eleanor was a graduate of William Horlick High School, “Class of 1943”. On August 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Glenn R. Burge who preceded her in death on December 25, 1999. In her earlier years Eleanor was employed by Belle City Malleable and lastly employed as a librarian at St. Edward Catholic School, until her retirement in 1985. She was a long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Eleanor will forever be remembered for her love of gardening and excellent baking skills. It was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she cherished most.

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her daughters, Barbara (James) Kleppin, Rita (Michael) Zybora, Eileen (Stephen) Matelski; son-in-law, Paul Zens; 10 grandchildren, Brian Zens (Chrystal), David Zens, Rebecca (John) Bohn, Steven Kleppin, Peter Kleppin, Laura (Cody) Brauner, Craig (Amanda) Zybora, Joseph Zybora, Stephanie (Jack) O’Driscoll, Jacob (Melissa) Matelski; 7 great grandchildren, JP, Max, MacKenzie, Sean, Brady, Ethan and Michael; sister-in-law Patricia Braun; nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Zens, her brother, Bernard Braun and sister, Ruth (Carl) Oravetz.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Eleanor’s life will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., 12:00 Noon,Tuesday, December 6, 2022, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for visitation 11:00 am until time of Mass at the church.
