Evelia Esther Nava, age 93, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Laredo, TX, October 21, 1929, daughter of the late Ramon and Eufema (Nee: Dominguez) Pardes.

On June 19, 1952 in Texas, she was united in marriage to Victor Nava and they were blessed with 10 children. Evelia and Victor moved to Racine in 1976. Victor passed away February 2, 1981. Evelia retired from the Sheraton Hotel after working for twenty years in housekeeping. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Las Damas Se St. Patrick. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, knitting, baking, making tamales and her trip to Hawaii. She will be remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother. Above all it was time spent with her family that she treasured most. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Linda (Jose) Cantu, Noreen Maldonado, Evelia (Francisco) Maldonado, Victor (Maria) Nava, Frank Nava, Santos (Emily) Nava, Carlos (Linda) Nava, Norma Nava, Ramon Nava; in-laws, Tony Nava, Johnny Nava, Pete (Barb) Nava; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jose Nava; grandson, Jose Cantu Jr.; son-in-law, Rafael Maldonado; siblings, Ramon (Yolanda) Pardes, Santos (Petra) Pardes, Cruz (Ernestro) Munoz; in laws, Pasquale (Rachel) Nava.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, Saturday, March 4, 2023, 10:30 am with Reverend Jose Mario Neito officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and family may meet Friday at the funeral home 5-7 pm and on Saturday at the church 9:30 am until 10:15 am.
