Graciela Hernandez

With family by her side, Graciela Hernandez, age 69, of Racine, passed away peacefully Friday, October 15, 2021, at Ridgewood Care Center. She was born in Racine, April 26, 1952, the 6th of 8 children of the late Pedro and Micaela (Nee: Ovalle) Hernandez.

Grace was raised in Racine and graduated from Wm Horlick High School “Class of 1970”. She enjoyed the many years she spent working in various factories around the city last working at Deluxe Video in Kenosha. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and an avid Chicago Cubs fan trying to never miss a game. Grace enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, going out to dinner, to a movie, anything that included being with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her siblings, Orala Banda, Elida Robles, Dave (Pamela Duncan) Martinez, Armando Martinez, Jane Martinez, Samuel “Sammy” Martinez; many beloved nieces, nephews, including Maria Cristan, Christopher Robles and Brian Martinez whom she considered herself as their second mother; great nieces, great nephews other relatives and dear friends. Although Grace had no children she was very close to her niece Maria Cristan nephew Christopher Robles and Brian. She considered herself to be there second mom. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in-laws, Pablo Banda, Julian Robles, Louis Wickman; niece, Emelinda Cristan; and nephews, Steven Martinez and Julian V. Robles.

Per Grace’s wishes she will be cremated and no services will be held.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at McMynn Towers, Ridgewood Care Center and Compassus Hospice for the loving and compassionate care shown to Gracie.
