Joan A. Coulter, age 91, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin on Friday June 3rd, 2022. Joan A. Coulter was born in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 15, 1930, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (nee: Bacia) Niemiec.

Joan graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in St. Francis, Wisconsin in 1949. After graduation, Joan moved to Washington D.C. to work as a civilian contractor for the Department of the Navy. In 1953 she relocated back to Wisconsin and took a position with the local branch of the U.S Treasury Department in Milwaukee. It was at this time she met the love of her life, Bill Coulter. They were married on June 7, 1955 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Milwaukee. After taking off time from work to have children, in 1969 Joan re-entered the workforce by taking a position with the Racine Unified School District. Joan subsequently retired from the Racine Unified School District after 25 years in 1994. Joan was also a long-standing member of St. Rita Parish.

Joan was will be dearly missed by her children, Jon (Christine) Coulter of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Laura (Michael) Quale of Racine; grandchildren, Jack Coulter of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Claire Coulter of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Maximillian Quale of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Samuel Quale of St. Louis, Missouri; sister-in-law, Nancy Niemiec of Falls Church, Virginia; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; in addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her brother David (Henrietta) Niemiec, her sister-in-law Henrietta (nee: Czarnecki) Niemiec, her sister-in-law, Sharon (nee:Swilling) Straube of Chicago, Illinois; and brother-in-law, George (Sharon) Straube of Chicago, Illinois.

Private family services were held.
