Mary Jane Butler, age 84, of Racine, passed away, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove, WI. She was born in St. John, North Dakota, August 28, 1937, the 8th of nine children of the late Herman and Amelia “Molly” (Nee: Ratke) Beckman.

While growing up she lived in Alvin, WI and attended school in Iron River, MI. Upon high school graduation she moved to Racine to accept a job with SC Johnson and Son. On July 23, 1960, in Racine, she was united in marriage to Richard L Butler. They eventually divorced but remained friends until his passing. Mary had worked in the office at SC Johnson and Porters of Racine. She then worked for the State of Wisconsin at Southern Wisconsin Center and RCI for over 30 years. She also was a tax preparer for Accurate Tax Service as well as owning her own tax preparation business, Mary’s Tax Service. She also volunteered to prepare taxes with AARP. Mary enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a mom and grandmother to many. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, decorating and would always set a beautiful table. Her passion was to help people be it as simple as offer rides, tax help or whatever was needed. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her son, William (Volinda) Butler of Union Grove; stepdaughter, Mary Lou Vorlob of Racine, grandchildren, Carlye Butler, Cory Johnson, David Snell, Michael Vorlob, and Nicole Vorlob; great grandchildren, Brianna Skinner, Mya Vorlob, Arianna Martinez, and Liam Johnson; great great grandson, Thomas Skinner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alfred Beckman, Ella (Harold) Sparks, Anna (Wayne) Stapleton, Evelyn (James) Greig, Leona (Konstant) Koski, Alyce (Anton) Skirvanie, Wilfred (Audrey) Beckman, Herman “Bobby” Beckman.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, January 22, 2022, 11 am. with Rev. Laura Fladten officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 10 – 11 am. Interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Alvin, WI.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Oak Ridge Care Center and Seasons Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
