Michael James Modrow, age 69, passed away on Saturday March 19, 2022 at The Bay at Nu Roc Health and Rehabilitation Center in Laona, WI. Michael was born in Racine on January 3, 1953, son of the late Bruce and Bernice (nee: Adams) Modrow.

Michael attended Racine public schools, graduating from Park High School. In his twenties, he was employed with American Motors in Kenosha. In 1976, he moved his family to Nelma, WI where they owned a few horses and grew a strong love for the Northwoods. In the late 1970s, he joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union and due to his natural abilities, he was fast tracked to earn his Journeyman’s card, and worked with various companies. Commuting to Stambaugh, MI in the early 80s, he opened a carpet shop and hobby shop, where he built his own slot car track to entertain the kids. A man of many talents, Mike, along with his wife Patti, built three of their houses, maintained rental properties, and owned/operated the Four Seasons Tavern, home of the Green Monster in Monico, WI. In his later years, Mike spent time in Florida and settled in Phelps, WI. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed riding his motorcycle, shooting pool, traveling and listening to music. He will be remembered for his charisma, classic country style and his warm hospitality towards others.

Mike will be dearly missed by his children, Wade Modrow, Wendi (Kevin) Bixby, Adam (Jessica) Modrow, Amy (Jared) Harris; grandchildren, Alec, Isaac and Abigail Bixby, Conner, Allison and Lillian Modrow, Hunter and Scarlett Harris; siblings, Bob (Jean) Modrow, Kim Modrow, Elizabeth Corona; sister-in-law, Judie Modrow; his friend, former wife and mother of his children, Patti Proeber; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mike was also preceded in death by his brother Richard Modrow.

There will be visitation at the funeral home on Sunday April 3, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a service celebrating Mike’s life to start at 4:00 p.m.

The family extends a special thank you to Chris Gunderson for her loving friendship and compassionate care.
