Wayne Thomas Fletcher, age 72, was freed from pain and suffering, on Saturday, January 29, 2022, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Mauston, WI, June 30, 1949, to Richard and Eleanor Fletcher-Heerey (nee: Clarke). Wayne’s father died in a tragic car accident when he was only 2 days old; and Wayne often talked about looking forward to meeting his dad and being reunited with his mother in Heaven.

As a young child, Wayne learned the value of a strong work ethic, earning money as early as age 8 to help support his family. Wayne was a machine operator at SC Johnson for several years, where he was recognized for continuously making process improvement suggestions. He proudly owned and operated Fletcher Decorating for over 25 years, and his painting and paper-hanging accomplishments could be found on many homes and businesses in Southeastern, WI. Wayne enjoyed fishing, camping, playing Scrabble and golf-carting. Most of all, he was a proud father and grandfather and invested in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was fondly referred to by family and friends as “Grandpa Fletch”. Whether proudly cheering at sporting events, operating remote control cars and helicopters, creating simple games, blowing bubbles in the yard or having sleepovers, Wayne was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family. He exhibited a life filled with carefree joy and made those around him feel valued and loved. He will be dearly missed, but the memories he made will be cherished forever.

Wayne is survived by his children, Jennifer Fletcher, Brian (Jenee) Fletcher, and Bridget (Guy) Gregg; grandchildren, Blake, Carson, JJ, Bennett and Bella Fletcher, and Owen, Tessa and Nora Gregg; former wife, and mother of his children, Jill Fletcher; siblings, Richard Fletcher, Mary (Tom) Serchen, James Heerey, Julie (Dave) Peshek; and many other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Patricia Davy, Morris Heerey, Sherri Lemmons, and Johnny Heerey.

A Memorial Service celebrating Wayne’s life, will be held Sunday, Feb. 6, at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Aurora At-Home Hospice, Dr. Michael Mullane’s office, and the doctors and staff at Ascension Healthcare, Floor 4C for their kind and compassionate care of Wayne.
