Darlene Gentry

Darlene Gentry, age 57, passed away on Sunday January 3, 2021 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Darlene was born in Trenton, TN on December 31, 1963, daughter of the late Russell and Hazel (nee: Johnson) Gentry, the youngest of sixteen children. She accepted Christ at a young age.

Darlene was raised in Racine and attended Washington Park High School. She had lived in St. Paul, MN for the past twenty years or more. A loving and caring individual, Darlene will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking, especially chicken lol and her zest for life, and always being the life of the party!

Darlene leaves to cherish her memory: her fiancée and soulmate for the last thirty-two years, Bobby Griffin; her children, Jamillo Spight of St. Paul, MN, Lakesha Shaw (Leonard Jones) of Racine, Brittany Shaw (Jerome Larkins) of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, A’Najah, A’Vajah, and Sir’Legacy Taylor; all from Milwaukee, WI, Bra’Niyah Shaw, her heart and soul, and Ja’Leah Larkins from; Saint Paul, MN; siblings, Peggy (Willie Sr.) Murriel, Charles (Cindy) Gentry Sr. and Carlene (Marzell) Gentry, all of Racine, WI, Lester (Gesha) Gentry of New Orleans, LA, Connie (MaryAnn) Gentry of Humboldt, TN, Terry (Kimberly) Gentry of Jacksonville, FL, Timothy Gentry of Portage, WI, and Sheila Gentry, Florence Gentry (Floyd) Racine, WI, Tammy (Earl) Johnson, Tonya Gentry, Mary Williams, Jimmy Powell and Charlie Gentry, all of Trenton, TN, and a host of nieces, Leslie Gentry-French her heart, and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was also preceded in death by her precious son Frank Shaw lll, her sisters, Delois, Beverly and Pamela Gentry; brothers, Floyd Gentry, Melvin Gentry Sr. and Darnell Gentry.

There will be a public visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Masks and social distancing will be required. A private family funeral service will start at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith T. Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
