Howard Alan McCord, age 71, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. Howard was born on June 24,1947 in Beloit, WI. He attended South Beloit High School and Blackhawk Technical College and received a degree in Accounting. Howard met his wife Barbara Simmons at a circuit assembly in Beloit, WI in 1972 and they were married in Racine, WI on January 13,1973. He was a self-employed contractor in the fields of carpet cleaning and home and fire restoration. He met Norman Lynch who helped him become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and he was baptized as one on January 31,1970. Howard formed numerous friendships over the years traveling to different congregations giving Bible based discourses. He was currently serving as an elder in the Lockwood Park Congregation of Racine, WI.

He loved helping numerous friends and family with their car issues. He had an avid collection of tools for every job that you could think of. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old Western movies. Howard is known for his love of food especially his wife’s cooking, Mrs. Fisher’s potato chips, and blueberry pie. He loved to just hop in his car and go sightseeing. He was also fondly known by his family for always taking the longest route to get his destination. One of his favorite vacation spots was Lake Geneva, WI.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Barbara McCord; His children Laurie (Bobby) Morgan of Douglasville, GA; Micah (Tonja) McCord of Kansasville, MO; Melodie (Juan) Cruz of Beloit, WI; Briana (Kenny) Flanagan of Rice Lake, WI; Tracey (Chris) Peterson of Gary, IN; Sheila Reese of Loves Park, IL Grandchildren: Taylor, Hunter, MJ, Miles, Isaac, Raquel, Silas, Nia, Caprisha, Jonata, Bryce, Diesel, Kobe, Kyra, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Siblings: Mary Buchanan, Bonnie Shields, Nanette (Eddie) Collins, Beth (Eugene) Smalls. He is preceded in death by his mother Ida May (McCord) Savage, stepfather Curtis Savage, and sister Rose Scott.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brown, Dr. Mullane, the oncology team at Aurora Health Care and Davita Dialysis and the special friendships he formed over the years. A visitation service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 with a memorial service at 2 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Racine, WI. 1600 N. Summerset Drive 53406.
