Joan Lucille Peterson was born in Racine July 25, 1922 daughter of the late John and Ann (Nee: Rubringer) Hanson and was a lifelong resident of Racine. Joan left this world to join her heavenly Father on Monday, January 26, 2015 at age 92.

Joan graduated from Wm. Horlick High School “Class of 1940.” On April 21, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Charles E. Peterson. Joan was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and was an avid Bridge player for many years. She worked part time for many years at Lambertons Womens Clothing Store. Her main love was caring for her family. She enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband and planning family holidays. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband, Chuck; 3 children, Peggy J. Robbins (Tom Martin) of Racine, Kim C. Peterson of Pocatello, ID, Polly A. (Dale) Squires of Black River Falls, WI; 7 grandchildren, Steve Robbins, Dave (Tami) Robbins, Jaime (Mark) Peterson, Eric (Brandi) Robbins, Cory (Lisa) Groetzinger, Keri (Jerry) Gerhard, and Heidi; 17 great-grandchildren who will continue to feel her love and strength; a sister, Charlotte David of Racine; brother-in-law, L. Robert Peterson of Oconomowoc, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Donald Hanson, Rodney Hanson; sister, Averill Tompach; brother-in-law, Roger David; sisters-in-law, Louise Hanson, Elizabeth Hanson, and Marian Peterson.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 29, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 1903 Green St. with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society have been suggested. Private entombment will be held at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Hwy 32.
