Life Story / Obituary
Katherine Marie Wemmert, age 73, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep Friday, April 11, 2025. She was born in Racine, September 6, 1951, the first of six children of the late Robert and Caroline (Nee: Orttel) Wemmert.
Kathy attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, St. Catherine’s High School. She graduated from Wm Horlick High School Class of 1970. She was employed by Ametek for over 30 years, ending in 2007 when Ametek closed their doors, but Kathy did not leave Ametek empty handed, she took with her so many friends and memories.
Kathy went on to Gateway College, after the closing of Ametek, where she received an associate's degree. Later, Kathy took a job as a receptionist at Lincoln Lutheran Home, staying there for several years before moving to St Monica's Senior Living. Kathy thrived in her part-time role at St Monica’s Senior Living, where she worked every other weekend. Above all Kathy treasured time spent with her working family especially her Supervisor Valerie and co-workers Barb and Pam. I cannot forget to mention the residents at St Monica’s, as Kathy loved their stories.
Kathy will be remembered for her always impeccable hair, which you were never allowed to touch and her always perfectly manicured nails, which were never her own. She had that loud infectious laugh, that if you weren’t part of the conversation, would make you look over to see who that was.
Kathy found so much joy in her chihuahua, Casper, for so many years, ultimately losing him in 2025. Not wanting to be alone Kathy found her Asher, who, being a puppy, gave Kathy a run for her money.
Kathy was fondly referred to by her siblings as the “Family Angel” as she was the one who took care of mom after her illness started. Kathy lived in the family home with our parents, so she was always with them. For 5 long years Kathy took mom to every doctor's appointment, made sure she had the best of care all up to her passing away on June 30, 2012. In our dads declining years Kathy stepped up again, until our dad passed on November 24, 2022.
Kathy is survived by her siblings: Barbara (Jim) Hyttel, Sharon Lewis, Nancy LaRue, Robert (Nancy) Wemmert, Julie (Quintin) Vincent; nieces and nephews, Amanda Hyttel, Matthew (Ashley) Stukel, Eric (Julia) Lewis, Michelle (Tony) Lewis-Roberts, Denielle (Ben) Lewis-Anderson, Kevin Wemmert, Monica Wemmert, Melissa (Tommy) Anclam; Sarah Kangas, Sterling Vincent and Bastian Vincent; great nephews, Judah Tyyska, Calvin Stukel and Everett Anderson; great nieces Giabella Bowers and brand new twins Scarlett Anclam and Quinn Anclam; along with other relatives and friends.
Per Kathy’s wishes private services will be held with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32 at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to Billy’s Posse, Inc., an organization that helps find lost pets. This was near and dear to Kathy’s heart.
