Kathryn L. Lockwood

Kathryn Shinofield Lockwood, 87, passed away peacefully in her home on August 22, 2026.

Kathryn was born November 19, 1938, in Sycamore, Illinois. She lived a life centered around God, family, and the people she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose faith, love, and strength shaped generations of her family.

Kathryn was married to her beloved husband, Donald Lockwood Sr., until his passing. She is survived by her children Sharon Lopez, Donald Lockwood Jr., Alexander Lockwood, Daniel Lockwood, and Angela Amore.

Family was at the heart of Kathryn’s life. She played a special role in raising two of her grandchildren and shared especially close relationships with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who remained a loving and constant presence throughout her life, particularly in her later years.

Kathryn is also survived by her siblings John Byars, Marva (Lewis) Moore, Damaris Keef, and Evelyn Byars Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Lockwood Sr.; two of her children, Marcena “Marcie” Lockwood and Michael Lockwood; and her siblings Gloria Shinofield Eggers, David Shinofield, and Edward Byars.

Kathryn leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and unconditional love. Her greatest impact can be seen in the generations she helped raise, guide, and love. Her home and heart were always open to her family, and the faith and values she carried throughout her life will continue through those she leaves behind.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home in Racine, Wisconsin. A funeral service celebrating Kathryn’s life and faith will immediately follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Kathryn will return home to the DeKalb area and be laid to rest at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, Illinois, on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
