Nita

With her family by her side, Nita Shalentaye Davis, age 41, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center, Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Rockford, IL, on January 14, 1984, daughter of Robert Davis and Chiquita Collins.

As a child Nita’s family moved to Kenosha, later relocating to Mississippi where she graduated from Raymond High School in Mississippi before settling in Racine. When employed, she worked in the food industry and as a caregiver. Nita will forever be remembered as an excellent cook, her love of dance and always ready for a great party.

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her mother and stepfather, Chiquita & Curtis Lewis; her father, Robert Davis; sisters, Donyetta Davis, LaWonda Steele, LaQuanda Steele, Shatara Varnell, Lajuane (Shawn) Payne; her great grandmother, Lela Collins; her nephews, Sir Charles Monroe, Westley and Wan’ya Hubert; her favorite cousins and aunts, Clifford and Melissa Davis, Shirley Collins and Pearlean Davis; other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Percy (Ethel) Davis, Allen Larry and Nita Collins.

Funeral Services celebrating Nita’s life will be held at the funeral home, 11:00 am, Saturday, August 23, 2025, with Rev. Willie Scott from Christian Faith Fellowship Church officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Saturday at 10:00 am until time of service.
