Surrounded by his loving family, Phillip Lawrence Ellery Sardin Sr., age 74, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Chicago, IL on June 4, 1944. He was the son of the late David and Addie Sardin.

On November 18, 1966, he entered a union with his loving wife Helen Lee Junior and stayed in marital bliss for the past 54 years. He was able to provide and care for his family by staying employed with Pepsi Cola(Quarter Oats) for the past 38 years until his retirement. Mr. Sardin was also dedicated member of the Mason Joppa Lodge # 9 out of Kenosha WI., Prince Hall affiliation for 23 years up until the end of his natural life.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Helen; from their union four children were born, Phyllis Ann Sardin-Lester (Reeadus III) who preceded him in death, Candy Sardin-Day (Jason), Phillip L. Sardin Jr. (Sonja) and Addie Sardin.

He had six grandchildren, Phil (Amanda), Reeadus III (Sara), Phyllis, Kaitlyn, Jada and Hunter. Ten great-grandchildren, Khariyel, Cody, Camiria, Cayden, Caylee, Reeadus IV, Kayrie, and Kamry. He leaves behind his two remaining sisters; Mildred and Rachel, two brothers-in-law Lafayette Barlow Sr. and Alfred Whitehead, six sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews other then his extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Phyllis Ann Sardin-Lester, six sisters; Evelyn, Isabell, Ruby, Thelma, Ida,Jeglett, and his loving brother William.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019, 12:00 pm at Kenwood United Church-Christ, 4600-08 S. Greenwood Avenue, Chicago, IL 60653. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery, Alsip, IL. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm.
