Life Story / Obituary
Rosalie H. Murphy, age 85, passed away peacefully Sunday morning January 19, 2025, at her son’s residence in Rochester. Rosalie was born in Milwaukee on August 19, 1939, daughter of the late Alex and Helen (nee: Rutkowski) Szolwinski.
She graduated from Pulaski High School “Class of 1958”. Throughout her teenage years, Rosalie helped her mother in her restaurant “Helen’s Restaurant.” Following marriage, she dedicated her time to her children, Debby and Michael. She was employed with Chet and Leona’s Flower Shop in Milwaukee, Lee’s Flower’s in Racine, and lastly with Racine Unified. In her spare time, Rosalie enjoyed baking cookies and cakes for everyone’s birthday, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and watching her show “General Hospital” from its inception in 1963 to the present. She also had an affinity for eagles and watching eagles on their webcam. More than anything, Rosalie will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and great love and devotion to her family.
Rosalie will be dearly missed by her children, Debby (Mark) Venne, and Michael Murphy (Brenda); grandchildren, Joshua (Ciara) Venne, Nick Venne, Jacob (Cammy) Murphy, Sarah Jain (Trenton) Carr; brother, Al Szolwinski; grand dogs, grand cats, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Rosalie’s Life will be held at the funeral home on Monday January 27, 2025, 12:00 p.m. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to:
