Life Story / Obituary
Sandra Marie Determan, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was born on October 2, 1950, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of the late George and Patricia (Nobles) Schuetz.
On August 21, 1971, Sandy married the love of her life, Thomas R. Determan, in Madison, Wisconsin. Together, they settled in Racine, where they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Carthage College and later received her master’s from Cardinal Stritch University. Sandy dedicated over 30 years to SC Johnson, retiring in 2015.
A woman of deep faith, Sandy was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She shared that faith as a Religious Education teacher, mentoring many children through their First Communion.
Sandy was a talented artist, expressing herself through poetry, watercolor painting, and drawing. She lived with quiet strength and kindness—always upbeat, never one to complain, and full of grace through life’s ups and downs.
To Sandy, family was everything. She made it a priority to ensure her children had a joyful, grounded upbringing and supported their every endeavor. Her joy only grew with her grandchildren—Abigail and Morgan—whose games, performances, and milestones she never missed.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Thomas Determan and her sons, Thomas II (Jennifer) Determan and Michael Determan; her treasured grandchildren, Abigail Marie and Morgan Thomas; and other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter, Tracie Lynn, in 1973.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue, with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Private entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Harmony Club or Orchestrating Good, organizations that reflect Sandy’s generous and compassionate spirit.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the teams at Brookdale Senior Living and Hospice Alliance for their loving and dedicated care.
