Therese Matthews

Therese Magron Matthews, age 92, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

Therese was born in Koppigen, State of Bern, Switzerland, March 8, 1926, the 6th of six children of the late Moritz and Maria Magdalena (Nee:Jungen) Magron.

In March of 1952 in Vienna, Austria she was married to the love of her life John L. Matthews. They had been residents of Racine since 1960. Therese graduated from U. W. Parkside as a foreign language teacher. She taught German and French at Racine Lutheran High School, Racine Unified School District and at U.W. Parkside. Therese was an avid reader who enjoyed working her flower gardens, cooking, antiques and traveling. She was a devoted wife and mother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, John; her daughters, Christine Vollmer of Grafton, WI and Diana Matthews of Los Angeles; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marianne, Julie, Charlotte, Rene, and Hannes.

In keeping with Therese’s wishes private services will be held.
