Virginia M. Lee, age 93, passed away on Friday, March 02, 2018 at the Racine Commons. She was born in Racine on the 14th of August 1925 to William G. and Mary O. (Nee: Gleason) Zacharias.

She was married at Fort Dix, New Jersey to Felix L. Lee in February 1949 and divorced in September 1952. Virginia was actively involved as a member of Plymouth Congregational Church serving as a Sunday school teacher, on the Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees Social Committee and the Women’s Fellowship Guild. She was also a member of American Legion Post 310, past-commander of Women’s Post 518, member of the 20/4. Virginia served in the Women’s Army Corp for four years eleven months and was a member of the Women in Military Services as a charter member.

She was employed by the City of Racine Assessor’s Office for thirty-two years, retiring in February of 1988. Virginia was a member of the City of Racine “Twenty Year Club” and served on two of the Mayor’s committees. She was a director of the Racine Municipal Employees Credit Union, served as secretary of the Oak Bend Mobile Homeowners Association in Hudson, Florida.

Surviving are her son, Roland A. Lee; her grandson, Andrew A. Lee; brother, Rodney W. Zacharias and wife, Karen; nephews, Thomas D. Zacharias and wife, Diane, Steven J. Zacharias; special friend, Marilyn Zacharias; cousins, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-law, Sandra Lee; and nephew, Brian Zacharias.

Private graveside services with Full Military Honors were held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
