Alfred Gene Rogers

Alfred Gene Rogers, Sr., age 87, passed away on Sunday December 7,2025. Al was born in Myrtle, Mississippi on November 24, 1938, son of the late Eric Rogers and Estelle (Jackson) Rogers.

On September 10, 1960, Al was united in marriage to Wanda Alvis, and through their union they produced a son, Alfred G. Rogers, Jr.

Al, from an early age, developed great entrepreneurial skills, in which he used to invest in real estate.

On August 7, 1976, Al was united in marriage to Rita T. Cofield. Together they owned and operated Al’s Vega Lounge and BBQ Time for over thirty years before retiring in 2004. Al was a dedicated member of New Omega Baptist Church. In his spare time, Al loved taking trips with his wife Rita.

Al will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Son, Alfred (Judy) G. Rogers, Jr. of Michigan. Daughter, Nakisha (Sha’Boris) Hiler of Racine, Granddaughter, Asha Nicole Rogers, of Michigan, Ke’Land Hiler, of Racine, Brother, Walter (Vallie) L. Rogers of Racine, Goddaughter, LaTasha Wallace of Racine, Niece, Kimberly Cofield of North Carolina, Dorothy Jones of Racine. And other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Al was also preceded in death by his wife, Rita Rogers, brother Billy Rogers and several aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Alfred’s Life service will be held at New Omega Baptist Church, 5731 Northwestern Ave, on Monday December 22, 2025, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fred L. Richmond Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
