God had his arms wide open on March 5, 2025, to welcome Ann H. Beckett age 92 to enter the gates of Heaven. Ann passed away peacefully with her family by her side and while listening to her favorite gospel songs. Ann held on till the first day of Lent, which was her favorite time of the year. In honor of Ann, her family attended church that evening in celebration of her.

Ann was born to Margarito and Cruz Saavedra on August 18, 1932, in Dallas, Texas. On June 23, 1956, Ann married John C. Beckett Sr. They were married 51 years before her husband’s passing in 2007. During their marriage they brought two children into the world, John Jr. And Julie. Her children were her pride and joy and being their mother was her greatest gift in life. Ann loved being their mother and being a stay at home mom. She always provided a good home setting with many good home cooked meals and giving a lot of love to her family.

Ann attended Christ The King Lutheran Church for many years being on many boards and attending bible classes. Always doing the most for her church. Later in life Ann transferred her membership to St. John’s Lutheran Church where she attended with her daughter Julie and son- in- law Ravi and her grandchildren.

Ann was a babysitter for many families over the years, including her grandchildren, Bobby Jr., Brandon and Brianna. As Ann’s health declined, she made the choice to move in with her daughter Julie and son-in-law Ravi. They had the honor of having Ann with them in their home for 9 years and caring for her. Ann was proud of her family, but also of her faith.

Ann is survived by her daughter Julie and son-in-law Ravi Velasquez. Ravi was like a son to Ann and she always said he was her hero. Ann’s statement. “I can pass away peacefully, knowing my daughter is so loved”. Ann is further survived by her grandchildren, Bobby Jr. (Elizabeth) Bernal, Brandon (Clare) Bernal and Brianna Bernal; great grandchildren, Keegan Ray-Bernal and Alana and Mateo Bernal all of whom were the center of her life. Ann is further survived by her sisters- in-law, Gladys Clausen and Betty Istvanek. Along with many nieces and nephews whom all she loved to the fullest. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Beckett Sr.; her son, John Beckett Jr.; and siblings Mickey and Mike Saavedra, Josie Beckett, Lupe Braun, Esther Bishop and Frank Rodriguez.

Ann’s greatest gift in life was her family and her faith. She loved going to the casinos and attending Country concerts, baking and doing crossword and word search puzzles. Ann was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and always cheered on her teams. Ann’s final request was to go to the Milwaukee Zoo with her family and that request was fulfilled and they had a wonderful time. Ann loved the fact that before she departed, she was able to say her final goodbyes to her family and friends. This was such a blessing for her. They shared memories. There were tears and lots of laughter. Ann knew the Lord was ready to receive her with open arms. She left us in peace and knowing that she was loved and she was going to be free of pain and have the greatest reunion with her husband, her son and her family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that prayed with us and for our family during this difficult time. Special thanks to Pastor Jack Gilbert and Pastor Joshua DeYoung and Ann’s friend Jeremy Kirchmeier for all of their scriptures and prayers during Mom’s sickness. To Dr. Paul Durbin, Dr. Desiree Dizadji and Dr. Matthew Larsen and nurse Annette Carbajal for all their wonderful care over the years for Mom. Also nurses Nikki and Ruth and Aid Angie from Compassus Hospice Care for their compassion and their care during this difficult time. To Ann’s nieces, Jean Holmes and Rose Bequeaith, nephew Billy Beckett ll, and sister-in-law Gladys who were all Mom’s phone buddies. She loved and appreciated those calls. Ann will be taking her final ride past her home that she resided at with her husband, John and her children before being laid to rest.

Funeral services In honoring and remembering Ann’s life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church 1501 Erie St. in Racine on Friday, March 21, 2025 with Reverend Jack Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11am with Ann’s service at 11 am. Ann will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park.
