Bernice Lorraine Veland, age 80, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at her oldest daughter’s home. She was born in Stoughton, WI, March 28, 1941, daughter of the late Hjalmer and Ruby (Nee:Selvog) Veland.

Bernice has been a resident of Racine for over 50 years. She will be remembered as owner of the Village Fair Restaurant in Franksville and by the many customers and friends she waited on at Andrea’s Restaurant in downtown Racine. She was a devout Christian and member of the A&D Biker Ministries who enjoyed hosting bible studies at her home. Bernice also enjoyed playing board games, dominos, trips to Door County in the fall and going out to eat with relatives and friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Heidi Jackson (Tony), Patrice Swenson (Frank), Lynda Swenson, Steven (Debbie) Swenson; grandchildren, Darnell, Danielle (Donnie), Harry III (Rachel), Tashanda (Roscoe), Jerome (Laura), R.J. (Jonna), MeLisa, Steven Jr. (Becky); great grandchildren; one great-great grandson on the way; siblings, Robert Veland, Bonnie (Dean) Olson, Beverly Veland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandsons, Ronnie and Donte.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, February 24, 2022, 2 pm, with Rev. Ralph Scherer officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 1-2 pm.
