Life Story / Obituary
Betty Jane Bahrke, aged 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 4, 2025, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Born to Edward and Helen Ferch on December 14, 1927, Betty lived a life marked by love for her family, fierce determination and a notable sense of style.
Betty graduated from Park High School and then went on to secretarial school in Milwaukee. Upon graduation, she proudly worked at Johnson Wax in Racine until she started her family.
Betty was a devoted wife to her late husband, Milton Bahrke, and a loving mother to Michael (Sally) Bahrke, Betsy (Jonathan) Kahnoski, Bonnie (Tony) Thames and Barbara (George) Ovies. She was a beloved grandmother to Brian Leigh, Ryan (Molly Lyons) Bahrke and Erin (Scott Utter) Bahrke. She was blessed to also be a doting great grandmother to Fiona Utter, Ilse Bahrke, Hannah Leigh, and Tyler Leigh. She was a cherished sister to Joyce Owens, her only sibling.
Betty was known for her incredible collection of purses and necklaces, often found searching through retail and resale shops to add to her legendary assortment. She loved traveling with her husband, capturing their countless memories in numerous photo albums. Above all, Betty cherished hosting Christmas and birthday celebrations, always ensuring her family felt loved and valued.
A service to honor Betty's life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday March 15, 2025, 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 4;00 p.m. Contributions in Betty's memory can be made to St. Vincent de Paul, located on Sunset Drive in Waukesha, Wisconsin 53188.
