Cathleen M. Ferg (AKA Cathy, Touche’ Away or Fergi) passed away at Columbia St Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee on April 30th, 2026, with family by her side after a short yet courageous battle of a rare melanoma cancer. Cathy was born in Racine, WI on February 5, 1961, to Ronald H. and Mardell F. Ferg (nee: Waters).

Cathy graduated from Washington Park High School in 1979. She worked all of her adult life in manufacturing assembly starting at WSM/ECM the day after graduation until their doors closed. She worked for another 22 years at Grove Gear in Union Grove, WI until a back injury caused her to leave the work force in April of 2023. She earned her high school letter jacket for playing volleyball, basketball and softball (when she was nicknamed Touche’ Away and began loving turtles and the color green). She continued playing volleyball and softball in multiple city leagues from 1979 to 1994. She was a bowler and a pool player as well. Two of her favorite hobbies were fishing and deer hunting with her dad and brother, Ron. During football season she would watch all college, NFL, and UFL leagues nonstop. She could recite most players, teams, coaches and rules without missing a beat.

Family and friends were very important to Cathy throughout her life. Making them happy is what she lived for most. She loved spending time with people whether it be playing Bingo, going on casino trips, or her weekly Sunday visit with her mom and Uncle Philip to play cards and Scrabble. Cathy really enjoyed going up north with her sister, Cindi, and family friend, Wynn, where they went on golf cart rides, enjoyed the peaceful outdoors, watched the deer and relaxed by the fire.

Cathy will be deeply missed by her brother, Ron (Julie) Ferg of Racine, their children, Daniel (Samantha), Adam (Lauren) and Jonathan (Katie) Ferg; and their children, Mary-Jean, Stanlee, Benjamin, Jack, Brooklyn, Myles, Carter and Timothy Ferg; sister, Cindi (Kevin) Bohn of Racine; their children, TJ (Megan) Jensen and Stephany Jensen; and their children, Levi and Brianna Jensen and Joey Garcia; special friends that became like family to her, Stella Teschner, Sara (Vincent) Gloeckler and their children Kaleb and Kylo; dear Aunts, Uncles and many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Colleen Ferg and great-nephew, Zachary Jensen.

You can visit with family on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St. from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm prior to service at 12:00 pm. Per Cathy’s wishes, please wear your favorite sport attire or casual clothes as she always preferred to be simple and casual.

The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/meredithfuneralhome/

The family would like to extend thanks to the caring staff at Compassus and Columbia St Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee
