Celia Ramirez Coca, age 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She was born in San Antonio, TX, August 19, 1933, the first of eight children of the late Jose Guadalupe and Celia (Nee:Saldana) Ramirez.

On July 25, 1949, in San Antonio, she was united in marriage to Emilio S. Coca Jr. and they came to Racine around 1950 and raised 6 children. Emilio passed away November 20, 2012. She was an active member of Cristo Rey Parish and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she and Emilio were voted “Irish Couple of the Year” in 2001. Celia volunteered her time helping the Latin community with United Migrant Opportunity Services, Marriage Encounters and as a translator at the courthouse. She will be remembered as a great cook who was very passionate about her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Emilio (Doris) Coca III, Rudolph “Rudy” (Deborah) Coca, all of Racine, Jesse Coca (Fran Vega) of Burlington, Alfred Coca of Racine, Michelle (Fabian) Mier of Fayetteville, GA, Margaret Coca of Austin, TX; grandchildren Tim, Christine, Jon, Nick, Celia, Cynthia, Jesse Jr. Valentina, Victoria, Gabriela, Alicia, Samantha, Tessa, Drake, Nina, Justin, Emilee and Eleana; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Guadalupe (Virginia) Ramirez, the late Joe Ramirez, Adolph Ramirez, Frances (the late Paul) Quiroz, Stella (the late Sisto) Hernandez, Gloria (Robert) Perez, Margaret (the late Domingo) Ozuna; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1100 Erie Street, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, 11:00 am with Rev Jose Mario Nieto officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The family has suggested memorials to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
