Delton John Ehni, son of John and Anna (Hoefs) Ehni, was born June 24, 1930 on his parents farm near Chaseley ,ND where he lived his first years and attended an area country school. At the age of seven he moved with his family to a farm north of Bowdon, ND and attended the nearby Bowman Consolidated School. He began helping his parents on the farm at an early age.

In 1950, Delton served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Delton then married Sharefa ‘Sherry’ Ahmad in Illinois. They made their home in Racine, WI where Delton worked construction. In 1958 he began working at American Motors Corporation (AMC) / Chrysler in the Repair Department. Delton retired from Chrysler Motor Co. in the late 1980's after over 30 years of employment. For fun in retirement, he worked part time at Dairyland Greyhound Park racetrack in Kenosha. One day Tweety got injured and Del stitched his wound. Tweety went on to live a wonderful life. Del’s love also extended to several dogs and cats. he was also a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and North Dakota Bisons. A few years after Sherry passed in 2002, Del moved back to Fessenden, ND. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jim) Dahnert of Racine, WI; and two grandsons, Jon and Nick, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Delton was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brothers, Ellery and Gerald, and his sister, Jean Zimmerman.
