Diane Lee Guyton, age 73, of Racine, WI, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She was born in Chicago, IL, April 25, 1949, daughter of the late Edward and Louise Lee (Nee: Meeks) James.

Diane graduated from Marshall High School “Class of 1967”. On April 24,1987, she was united in marriage to Melvin H. Guyton at the Sanctuary of Holiness Church on the west side of Chicago. They raised their family in Chicago for forty years retiring to Racine in 2007.

Diane was dedicated to taking care of her family especially her disable daughter, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. She was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed sewing, shopping, singing and an occasional trip to the casino. She will be remembered for her very creative mind, kind soul, and blunt personality. Above all she treasured time spent with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Melvin; children, Towana (Sylvester) Bailey, Orlando Meeks, Valerie Meeks. She is furthered survived by her 7 grandchildren whom she legally adopted, Laquana, Sylvester Jr, Andre, Cordaro, Sharquita, Dammiuse, and Daniel; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; siblings, Erma Groves, David Meeks, Clyde (Jean) Davenport, Jennie Meeks; many in-laws; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Daniel Archer, and her sister, Princess Meeks.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at the funeral home Friday, September 16, 2022, 12 pm noon. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 11am -12pm.
