Life Story / Obituary
Donald H. Van Swol, age 57, passed away Sunday March 15, 2026, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital. Donald was born in Racine on January 11, 1969, son of Henry and Joan (nee: Rosenbaum) Van Swol.
Don graduated from J.I. Case High School “Class of 1987”. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for over twenty years. On August 4, 2001, Don was united in marriage to Linda Gall, his lifelong partner, at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. He was employed by the City of Oak Creek in the street maintenance department for twenty-eight years before retiring in 2024. Don was a member of the Eagle’s Nest where he won several of their chili cook offs. Don loved his 1937 Farmall tractor that he parked on his front lawn for everyone to see on North Main Street. He would take his tractor to various county fairs for the tractor pulls where he consistently took last place, except for the time he won third place when there were only two other tractors competing.
Don’s will always be remembered for his love and dedication to Linda, his love for family and friends, his dedication to his military brothers and sisters, along with his sense of humor, and love for all dogs.
Don will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda; parents, Henry and Joan Van Swol siblings, Carol (Rick) Larson and Rich (Laura) Van Swol; sisters-in-law, Jodi Tamminga and Robin (Bob) Hugasian; 4 nieces, 6 nephews, 3 great nieces, and 2 great nephews. Don is proceeded in death by his brother-in-law, Rick Tamminga along with several dear family members and friends.
A Celebration of Don’s Life followed by Full Military Honors will be held at United Lutheran Church, 3825 Erie Street, March 28, 2026, 1:00 p.m., with Rev. John Bischoff officiating.
