Life Story / Obituary
Every day on earth is given by our King, and on February 17, 2025, Evelyn “Evie” Ann Ives (Hahneman) was called home to be with her Savior.
Evie was born in Racine on September 9, 1943, daughter of the late John and Tillie (Nee: Elbe) Hahneman. After graduating from High School, she met Gale E. Ives at Racine Bible Church. He sat on one end of the pew and she asked him why is he sitting so far away? He moved closer to her, and they started singing together. They married on September 14, 1963, at Racine Bible Church. They would spend the next sixty plus years singing together as Gale played the guitar or her singing while he played the harmonica. Evie was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture and peace in the promise of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion and an unyielding trust in God’s plan.
The Lord blessed them with three children and Evie (along with Gale), raised them in the ways of the Lord, teaching them to love, to serve and to trust Him always. She was their greatest encourager, supporter and listener…always so gracious and kind. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always making sure they knew that knowing Jesus was the most important part of life. She loved flowers, sunshine, warm weather, dark chocolate, always looking perfect with her jewelry and nails, and spoiling her great grandchildren.
She found comfort in verses such as Philippians 4:13. Luke 1:37 and John 3:16. Evie is resting in the arms of her Savior, free from pain and suffering, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Gale; son, David (Tremayne) Ives; daughters, Brenda (Tony) DeRango and Jennifer (Andy) Schroepfer; grandchildren, Jonathan (Sarah) Ives, Samuel and Micah Ives, Abigail and Giovanna DeRango, Katherine (Kody) Azarian, Emily (Stephen) Loggans, Hannah (Jesse) Drapinski; great grandchildren, Noah and Evelyn Loggans, Millie and Caspian Drapinski and Alessia and Sienna Azarian; sister, Esther (Glenn) Schulz and many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. Her family will carry on her legacy of faith and love. While we grieve Evie’s passing, we solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal Kingdom.
A Service celebrating Evie’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Union Grove Baptist Church, 417 15th Ave., Union Grove, WI. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Saturday, 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. We will gather to honor Evie’s memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life. “Well done, My good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
