Frank Fredrick Mueller Jr. age 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Lakeshore at Siena. He was born in Fort Dodge, IA, September 13, 1937, the first of 3 sons of the late Frank and Lucy (Luella) Mueller Sr.
Frank graduated from AnnHarbor High School in Ann Arbor, MI. He went on to earn his bachelor and master’s degrees in music from the University of Michigan and his doctorate from the University of Illinois. On June 13, 1958, he was united in marriage to Virginia A. Cate and they were blessed with 2 sons, Phillip and Paul. Frank took a teaching position at the University of Wisconsin Parkside and that led him to move the family to Racine in 1972. UW Parkside was in the early stages of erecting the multiple stages of the building at that time, so concerts were sometimes done in a hallway and the Chamber Singers a group which he started met in the living room at his home. Professor Mueller taught for over 30 years.
Frank’s passion was the arts. In addition to his work at UW Parkside, he directed the Milwaukee Leidertafel, the Swedish Glee Club of Waukegan, the German Womens Chorus, and the Chicago German Choir Group. Frank was also a Cinema Buff and Theater Buff. He loved acting and had acted and directed some shows at the Racine Theater Guild. Frank was a devoted husband, father. Grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Virginia; son, Paul (Christine) Mueller; grandson, Blaine Borchart; great grandchildren, Yazmine, Adrien, Szoe and Camilla; his daughter-in-law, Jeanine Hying; other relatives, colleagues, former students and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Phillip Mueller in 2018; and his brothers, Donald (Joanne) Mueller and Douglas (Patricia) Mueller.
