Life Story / Obituary
Frank Michael Catrine, age 87, passed away peacefully Friday. August 7, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center, Mount Pleasant. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, October 8, 1937, the 5th of 9 children of the late Carl and Angeline (Nee Collova) Catrine Sr.
Frank graduated from Wm Horlick High School “Class of 1956”. On March 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy L. Ostwald and they shared 62 wonderful years together before Nancy preceded him in death March 27, 2024. Frank was a well-known barber in town for 66 years operating Catrine Barbers for over 54 years. He enjoyed sailing and was a member of The Racine Yacht Club for over 50 years, a member of the Roma Lodge for over 50 years and a member of the Northside Business Assn for over 50 years. He enjoyed outdoor sports and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan. Above all he treasured time spent with his family especially at the family cottage fishing and boating. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are three sons, Michael (Katie) Catrine, John Catrine, and Gary (Rhonda) Catrine; grandson, Jordan (Gina) Catrine; two great grandchildren, Arya and Jackson Catrine; siblings, James (Judy) Catrine, Connie Majerko, Rosemary Klimowicz, Janice (Bill) William; in-laws; Mary Catrine, Theodore Drettwan, Judy Eaton; Charla Davis; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and barber shop patrons. In addition to his parents and Nancy, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Catrine, Tom Catrine, Josie Drettwan, and Tony Catrine.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Friday, August 15, 2025. A Roma Lodge service will begin at 10:45 am followed by prayer service at 11 am with Reverend Matthew L. Buterbaugh officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family prior to the service 9:30 am until 11 am. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
Memorials to Big Sisters of Greater Racine, Hospitality Center Clothes Closet, St Michael’s Episcopal Church or Sleep in Heavenly Peace (shpbeds.org) have been suggested.
