George Arthur Lee Cowley, age 73, passed away at his residence on Thursday June 10, 2021. George was born on March 15, 1948, in Tupelo, MS, son of the late George Cowley and Addie Lee (nee: Weathington) Harris.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Hopewell MB Church in Beldon, MS. He grew up in the Beldon Community and attended school in the Beldon School System. Later in life, he moved to the Red Hill Community and became a member of the Red Hill MB Church in Blue Springs, MS. George moved to Racine in 1965 and was employed with various companies including JI Case and Ganton Technologies. On June 10, 2010, George was united in marriage to Janie Mae Mackey. To this union, he was blessed with four step-children, Denelle, Danny, Cynthia and Kimberly.

George was a loving husband, father, brother, relative and dear friend to many. He was well known by his smile and friendly personality. His love for his family transferred over to everyone that he encountered. George never met a stranger and always had a special way of making everyone feel like family. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, junking, riding his motorcycle and listening to music.

George will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 11 years, Janie Cowley of Racine, and her children, Dennelle Holman of Rockford, IL, Danny (Shatara) Holman of Covington, GA, Cynthia Holman and Kimberly Holman, both of Rockford, IL; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Linda Armstrong, Walter Theresa (Moran) Triplett, Vernisa (Elton) Ledbetter, and Edward Harris; sister-in-law, Ilda Harris; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey Lee Harris and Charlie Harris and his sisters, Patricia Ann Armstrong and Mattie Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday June 24, 2021, 11;00 a.m., with Rev Karl McNeil officiating. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.
