Gloria M. Nielsen

Gloria Mae Nielsen, age 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2025. She was born in Racine, September 19, 1933, daughter of late Peter and Dorothy (Nee: Sorensen) Elsner.

Gloria graduated from Wm Horlick High School “Class of 1951”. It was during Kindergarten while playing in the school sand box that she met Richard A. Nielsen a classmate who would turn out to be the “Love of her Life”. On May 6, 1954, they were united in marriage and for the next 67 years they would walk together hand in hand until Richard passed away July 11, 2021. Gloria was employed by Oster Mfg, Montessori School and then retired from Lincoln Lutheran where she served as an activities director for 27 years. Gloria and Richard enjoyed traveling especially cruises and had made it to just about every country in the world. She will be remembered as a kind person who was willing to help anyone in need. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Tim (Jin Feng) Nielsen, Jane Marshall; grandson, Johnathan Lopez; great grandson, Jesse; sister-in-law, Jean Nielsen; nieces, nephews’ other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard (Julie) Elsner and sister, Marilyn Nielson.

Private services will be held with interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
