Life Story / Obituary
James F. Arndt, “Ace”, age 80, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. James was born in Racine, January 24, 1932, son of the late Henry C. and Margaret (Nee: Holler) Arndt.
Jim attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and Washington Park High School. He was employed with Racine Stamping for twenty-five years and retired from In-Sink-Erator after twenty-six years of employment. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. An avid sportsman, Ace was Racine’s #1 baseball catcher in the 1960’s. He loved ice skating up until 67 years old and was a huge Black Hawks fan. He was also a Red Sox fan, a Colts fan and enjoyed spending time playing cards, poker, and especially Schafskopf. He was a good uncle and enjoyed a good pickup game of broomball with his nieces and nephews or taking them to the carnival where he would win them prizes. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his son, James Arndt; brother, Charles Arndt; sister, Marion Witkofski; sisters-in-law, Emily Arndt, Beverly Arndt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, William, and Richard; and sisters, Louise Kristan and Margaret Arndt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 24, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie Street, with Rev. Richard J. Molter officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.
