Life Story / Obituary
Jean K. Wishau, age 90, passed away peacefully at her residence, Parkview Gardens, the last of nine siblings, on July 24, 2026. After a fall, a hip break and surgery in June of 2025, she had resided in Assisted Living up to the time of her passing. She was born in Racine, November 13, 1935, daughter of the late Harold and Anna (Nee: Gizinski) Hansen.
Jean was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, “Class of 1953”. On April 26, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gerald Wishau, who preceded her in death on February 15, 2012. Jean was a banker for twenty plus years at Heritage Bank until her retirement in 1995. She was a long-time member and volunteer at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church and volunteered at Toys for Tots. After mom sold the family home about 10 years and moved into Parkview Independent Living, she learned how to play Mahjong at the age of 81. She was a regular winner at Mahjong and Bingo. She loved to put together jigsaw puzzles with all of her fellow resident lady friends in the puzzle room on a daily basis.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Booker (Tony Brehm), Tammy (Dave) Haertle, Brian “Ruppert” (Vicki) Wishau, Kevin (Brenda) Wishau, all of Racine; 8 grandchildren, Jesse (Lisa) Booker, Erin (Ryan) Carbajal, Mark (Katie) Haertle , Greg Haertle (Ali Frana), Jakob Wishau, Sydney (Ben) Malicki, Elijah Wishau and Zoe (Jeff) Young; 8 great-grandchildren, Riley and Reece Booker, Rocco and Nico Fiorita,Micah and Manny Carbajal, Theodore and Audrey Malicki, Madelyn and Elizabeth Young; one last in-law, Marcia (Kenneth) Wishau in Rochester, NY and nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold (Lorraine) Hansen, Marian (Richard) Beyer, Jerry (Geri) Hansen, Patricia (Clayton) Meier, Phyllis (Leslie) Wishau, Marjorie Tyle, Donald (Mary) Hansen and Carol Coates, and her in-laws, Russ (Nancy) Wishau, Leslie (Phyllis) Wishau, Floyd (Beverley) Wishau and Kenneth Wishau. Also, many great aunts and uncles.
Private Services were held with Entombment at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org, have been suggested.
