Life Story / Obituary
Jean L. King, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2026. He was born on September 17, 1930, in Falls City, Nebraska, to the late Robert and Louise (Kleber) King.
Jean proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, serving stateside. On September 17, 1983, he married Nancy Stommel, with whom he shared many cherished years.
Jean was a dedicated worker throughout his life, employed at PDI and Rexnord, and later retiring from Western. He was a longtime member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church.
He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. Jean loved hunting and especially fishing, going out for breakfast, feeding the neighborhood birds, and spending time with his beloved Snoopy and fishing collection. He also treasured his regular coffee and donut mornings with his dear friend, Richard Sabol, three times a week
Above all, Jean cherished time spent with his family, who meant everything to him. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Debra (Mark) Kunz, Michael King, Sandy (Chuck) Schovain, and Barbara (John) Brahm; and his stepchildren: Katie (Dan) Hossalla and Susan Stommel. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; daughter-in-law, Terri King; granddaughter, Jennifer Kunz; stepdaughter, Anne Moore; stepson, Bill Stommel Jr.; and stepdaughter-in-law, Renee Stommel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m.
Jean will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
