With his family by his side, Joseph Kurali, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday afternoon, April 24, 2020. Joseph was born in Papakovacsi, Hungary on July 27, 1937, son of the late Joseph and Jolan (nee: Tomcsik) Kurali. He fled Hungary during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and moved to the United States.

On October 4, 1969 at St. Stephens of Hungary Catholic Church in Chicago, Joe was united in marriage to the love of his life, Irma Csaszar. They shared fifty beautiful years together and raised two daughters, Elizabeth and Susan. He was employed with JI Case until he retired in 2002. Joseph was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. In his spare time, Joe loved being outdoors admiring the beautiful flowers his wife planted, listening to his many water fountains and feeding birds and other wildlife. He enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage with his friends and sons-in-law. He looked forward to going on vacations with his family and spending time with his extended family. He also enjoyed watching WWE with his grandchildren. More than anything, Joe loved his time with his family, grandchildren and granddogs.

Joe will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Irma; daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Erman, Susan (George) Lambert; grandchildren, Emily, Nico, Abby and Josh Erman; sisters, Elizabeth Buki, Caroline Dahl and Ili Farkas, sister-in-law, Anna Koska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph was also preceded in death by his father-in-law Janos Csaszar, mother-in-law Anna Csaszar, siblings, Gyula Kurali, Irene Fulup, Frank Kurali, brothers-in-law, Frank Koska, Walter Dahl, Karl Buki and Frank Csaszar, his sister in law, Teri Kurali and his granddog, Annie.

Private family services will be held on Friday May 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends may view the service by visiting Joe’s webpage on the funeral home website www.meredithfuneralhome.com and press the Live Stream option.
