Life Story / Obituary
Louisette Marie Suzanne Kluge, age 99, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025 at her residence, The Woods of Caledonia. Louisette was born in France on June 10, 1925, daughter of the late Louis and Suzanne (nee: Warryn) LeBoulluec.
During World War II, Louisette met a young U.S. Army Air Corps Corporal, William C. Kluge. They fell in love and were united in marriage outside of Paris on August 31, 1946. They raised four children, Karyn, Barbara, Annette and John, and shared sixty-six beautiful years together before William passed away in 2013. When her children were older, Louisette went back to school and earned her bachelor’s degree in education from UW-Parkside, where she stayed on as a lecturer/instructor, sharing her love of the French language with countless students. Louisette also found great pleasure in teaching students in the Racine Unified district and helped teachers develop their language skills and curricula. In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors, nature and hosting her summer and winter parties for local French educators, friends and visiting French business people. Louisette was small in stature but was a force who will be remembered for her kind heart, her intelligence and her great love and devotion to her family.
Louisette will be dearly missed by her children, Karyn (Don) Schmidt, Barbara (Patrick) Fogarty, Annette (Tim) Lord, John (Kathy Matranga) Kluge; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bethel Roberts; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in the U.S and France. In addition to her parents and husband, Louisette was also preceded in death by her siblings, Pierre Yves, Claudine (William)Tuttle, Louis (Marceline), Yves (Jacotte), Emile (Gertrude), and Michel (Michelle).
A Celebration of Louisette’s Life reception will be held at the funeral home on Saturday February 8, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorials to Big Sisters of Racine or the Racine Zoo have been suggested.
The family extends a special thank you to The Woods of Caledonia and St. Croix Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
