Marie Bidlo, Social Butterfly Extraordinaire, Has Flown

On August 17, 2024, Marie, fluttered off to the great beyond at 74, leaving behind a cloud of unwatched BBC series, countless cups of coffee, and a Rolodex full of friends who will miss her dearly.

In the last few years, she faced an uphill battle with cancer, but she didn’t let that slow her down in spirit. She made new friends while waiting for radiation and chemotherapy, turning the treatment center into her latest social club.

She will be remembered for her uncanny ability to turn a ten-minute trip to the grocery store into a two-hour social event. Marie never met a stranger—just people she hadn’t chatted with yet.

She is survived by her two children, Danel (Scott) Duchac and Bryon (Matze) Eser, as well as her two grandchildren, Alex and Franki Duchac.

Also mourning her loss are a legion of friends, including the best-of-the-best, Carolyn Jacob-Larson, who has been a constant in her life for 70+ years. They will now have to find someone else to keep them updated on everyone else’s business.

In her honor, we ask that you chat with a stranger today, call an old friend, or at least pass along a bit of juicy gossip.

Fly high, social butterfly—you’ve earned your wings.
