Mary Kay Garside, age 50, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary Kay was born in Racine, June 22, 1962, daughter of Alfred E. and Joyce E. (Nee: Stansfield) Kilsdonk.

Mary Kay was a graduate of William Horlick High School, and received her B.S.N. and Masters in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix. She was employed as a Registered Nurse by Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Hospital for the past six years, and previously was employed at Kenosha County Division of Health. Mary Kay was a generous and caring person and volunteered her time to numerous charity efforts. She was an active member of Unity Church in Kenosha where she served as a board member and Youth Minister. Her pastimes included knitting, scrapbooking, traveling and spending time with her daughters. Mary Kay will forever be remembered as a loving mom, daughter, sister, dear aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Julia and Emma, and their father Glyn Garside; her father, Al Kilsdonk of Racine; step-father, Lewis Berns; sister, Kathy (Dave) Berwick of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, John (Lori) Kilsdonk of Madison; nieces, nephews, other relatives, best friend Julie Newhouse, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Berns and her sister, Jane Sliwinski.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2013, 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Moynihan officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:30 A.M. Memorials to the family for Mary Kay’s daughters’ education have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Choi, Dr. Engel, Barb Prasser RN, and the nurses on 3B at All Saints Hospital for all of their loving and compassionate care.
