With her family by her side, Pamela Jeanne Mattes, Age 78, Passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Lakeshore at Siena. Pam was born in Racine, August 23, 1947, daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor (Nee: Pulda) Strege.

She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1965 and married the guy (Timothy C. Mattes) across the street in 1966. Together they raised three sons and worked until retirement.

Early in her career, Pam was employed by Prudential Insurance Company, Petersen Machine, Letsch Mfg. and US Competition. She served in several positions, including personal manager, office manager and comptroller.

Following retirement, she became an avid reader of James Peterson’s detective novels, flower gardening, enjoyed cooking, trying new recipes and keeping track of numerous birds and dates they visited at their cottage in central Wisconsin. Travel was also important with many yearly visits to Door County, Northern Michigan and touring the Great Lakes.

In earlier years with her boys and friends, houseboating on the Mississippi River was a great enjoyment. Most memorable was an eight-day trip through the Locks in Minneapolis. Pam being blessed with three sons in scouting, was a Cub Den Mother, a merit badge counselor and a unit commissioner. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Women’s Club and Junior Women’s Club of Racine.

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her husband, Timothy, of 59 years; sons, Kevin (Tracey) Mattes, Gregory (Katie) Mattes, Jeffrey (Karen) Mattes; grandchildren, Christine Mattes, Kaylee (Jeff) Gursky, Steven Mattes, Elizabeth (Jose) Rosales, Nicholas Mattes, William Mattes, Ella Mattes and Jack Mattes; 5 great grandchildren, Seth, Savannah, Baylin, Pamela and Michele; brother, Timothy (Cindy) Strege, sisters-in-law, Kathleen Beyer, Jane (Dennis) VanDeHey; nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Ann Rowlands and her brother in laws Darryl Rowlands and Willaim Beyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Pam’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St. with Rev. Michael Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Thursday, from 10:00 am until time of Mass at the church. Memorials to St. Catherine’s High School or to One’s favorite Charity have been suggested by the family.
