Life Story / Obituary
Paul R. Bauer, age 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the home of his daughter, Rose Bauer, in Columbia City IN. He was born in Racine, on April 26, 1936, son of the late Fred and Dorothy (nee: Noll) Bauer.
Paul attended St. Rita’s grade school and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School "Class of 1955". Following high school, he began work at Michaels Machine Shop and served in the National Guard. On August 8, 1959, he was united in marriage to Veronica J. “Ronnie” Bellovary, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Paul worked for 35+ years at Webster Electric Co./Danfoss Fluid Power in Racine, WI which he retired from in 1999.
In his free time, he loved working in his yard, learning about trains and automotives, and spending time with his family. Paul was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his children, Roseann Bauer and husband John Gilles, June Bauer and husband Mark Tobias, Diane Bauer-Irwin and husband Scott Irwin; grandchildren, Alec, Jared (Katelyn Johnson), Keiran, and Michala Gilles; brothers, James Bauer, Gene (Marge) Bauer, and sister, Dorothy (Ken) Sack; in-laws, Lou Ann Bauer, Gerald (Barbara) Bellovary, Jackie Bellovary; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ronnie Bauer; his parents, Fred and Dorothy Bauer, parents in-law; Joseph and Rose Bellovary; brothers, Raymond Bauer and Lee (Louise) Bauer; sister, Theresa (Patrick) O'Brien; brother in-law, Joseph Bellovary, and sister in-law, Kay Bauer.
A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for visitation prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cancer Research Institute (give.cancerresearch.org).
