With her loving family by her side, Pastor Raquel Malave-Colon, age 61, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 20, 2020 at her residence. Raquel was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on July 7, 1958, daughter of the late Juan and Rosaura (nee: Aponte) Malave.

On November 1, 1982 Raquel was united in marriage to Freddy Fernandez. They copastored at the church they founded Iglesia Evangelica Pentecostal Alarma Int. for sixteen years until Freddie preceded her in death on October 6, 2007. Raquel ministered at the church for the past twelve years. Raquel found love again and was married to Santos Colon on December 28, 2008. In her spare time, Raquel enjoyed gardening. She will be best remembered for her great love for God, her church family and her family.

Raquel will be dearly missed by her husband, Santos; mother Rosaura Aponte; daughters, Laura Cruz, Rosa (Jose) Pacheco, Sheila (Israel) Acosta, Raquel Ruiz, Sally (Jesus) De Leon; grandchildren, Janice, Jasmine, Janette, Junior, Isabella, Iraida, Freddie, Juan Carlos, Jose, Heriverto, Jesus Omar, and Yalishaka ; one great grandchild, Jenasis; sister, Vilma (Victor) Galvez; brothers, Edward, Albert and Robert Malave; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private family services will be held with interment at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to Raquel’s church have been suggested.
