Life Story / Obituary
Rosemary Theresa Wensing, age 93, passed away peacefully Monday, April 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born in Racine, on January 9, 1932, daughter of the late Teofil and Theresa (Nee: Thomas) Mianecki.
Rosemary graduated from St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1951” and went on to earn a degree in education from Dominican College in 1955. On August 10, 1957, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Frederick L. Wensing Jr. They were blessed with six children; Marcia, Annemarie, Thomas, Frederick III, Sarah, and Michael. Husband and father, Frederick passed away January 5, 2019, after 61 years of marriage.
Rosemary was a longtime member of Holy Name Catholic Church, now St. Richard Catholic Church. She was an avid Bridge player and golfer who played on the Women’s leagues at Ives Grove, Johnson, Shoop, and Washington Parks. She and Fred were members of the Jayco Campers Club. They enjoyed group camping events with the family and, in later years camping with Fred, visiting many WI state parks. Rosemary was artistic, creating beautiful banners for church and practicing calligraphy for awards, certificates and wedding invitations. She will be remembered for love of family, enjoying any opportunity to socialize and her big smile. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who treasured taking care of her family. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, Marcia Wensing (Joe Reeves), Annemarie (John) Meier, Fred (Kelly Jensen) Wensing III, Sarah Wensing (Lori DeHart), Michael (Cheryl McDonald) Wensing; grandchildren, Sydney Meier, Andrew Wensing, Lyndsey Wensing (John Kelly), Devon Wensing, Benjamin Wensing; siblings, Julius Mianecki, Patricia Shea, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Thomas, brothers Herman, Lawrence and Bernard and sisters Helen Klofanda Quader, Dorothy Bembenek and Christine Simanek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 10, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, with Rev. Juan Camacho officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10 am until Mass at 11 am. Private interment will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Richard Catholic Church or to one's favorite charity have been suggested.
Special thanks to daughter Sarah, Lori, and caregiver Courtney, for their compassionate care and support. And, to Aurora Palliative and Hospice teams for their excellent support during Rosemary’s final days.
