With her family by her side, Ruth J. Schoene, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 20, 2025. Ruth was born in Racine on March 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Raymond and Winifred (nee: LeFevre) Jamieson.

Ruth was a proud graduate of St. Catherine’s High School Class of 1947. On April 18, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Thomas Schoene. They raised five children and shared sixty wonderful years together before Tom’s passing on August 26, 2009. After her children were all off to school, Ruth began working as a medical technologist in the hematology lab at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church. A woman of many talents, Ruth was a fine pianist, golfer and ping pong player. In fact, she played ping pong three times a week at the Tyler-Domer Center, where she was affectionately known by her peers as “Ruthless Ruth”. Ruth also devoted her time as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for several years and volunteered with Toys for Tots for 25 years. Ruth will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, generosity, and deep love and devotion to her family.

Ruth will be dearly missed by her children, Tom (Debbie) Schoene, Steve Schoene, John (Joy) Schoene, and Laura (George) Jackson; daughter-in-law, Marla Wiersum; nine grandchildren, Steve Schoene, Eric (Shari) Schoene, Lisa Bauer, Shannon (Brian) Crawford, Stephanie (Jon) Mariano, Andrew (Elizabeth) Schoene, Logan Jackson, Tyler (Jillian) Jackson, and Danica (Ben) Alter; eight great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Michael (Eileen) Schoene; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Ruth was also preceded in death by her son, Richard, in 1987; siblings, Irene (Arleigh) Hubbard, Dr. John (Yvonne) Jamieson and Marion (Dick) Hoffman; and sisters-in-law, Catherine Jordan and Jacqueline Drummond; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Schoene.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Ruth’s Life beginning at 11:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Mary’s by the Lake Catholic Church, St. Catherine’s High School, or Toys for Tots have been suggested.
