Shannon Lee Bennett

1981 ~ 2022

With great sadness, we announce the sudden loss of our beloved Shannon Lee Bennett (Verwey), who passed away on November 30, 2022, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas. Shannon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Jean Verwey, and Robert Mathieus, Sr. She is survived by her husband Todd and three young sons, George, Mac, and Baylor. Also, parents Jerry and Linda Verwey, sister Kimberlee Nicole (Scott) Banks and nephew Ryan, grandmother Edna Mathieus, and many close aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Shannon attended Case High School and earned her baccalaureate degree from Marquette University. She moved to Alabama in 2012 where she married and helped her husband build their orthodontic practice, and their family. Shannon was known for her engaging smile and her ability to see the best potential in everyone. She loved the warm, sandy beaches of the south, and spending time with her family and closest girlfriends.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. A private memorial service was held in Alabama. A celebration of Shannon’s life will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 2 -3:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to meet at The Summit, 6825 Washington Ave, Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin to share stories and memories.

Shannon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on her 41st birthday and passed away ten days later. In lieu of flowers, the family is gratefully accepting donations to PANcan.org, which can be made on-line.
