Life Story / Obituary
Shirley Ann Duty, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Waukegan, IL, January 19, 1957, the 1st of 4 children of the late Gunnar and Dolores (Nee:Bogdala) Gudmundson.
Shirley was employed for many years at Ann Kiley Development Center in Waukegan retiring in 2023. On April 16, 1999, in Kenosha, she was united in marriage to Gregory A. Duty.
Shirley took pride in her appearance and enjoyed dressing up, doing her nails and looking nice. She also enjoyed camping and going to the Illinois State Beach Park. Shirley will be remembered for her firecracker personality and her sharing of her unfiltered thoughts and opinions that would spark love and hate relationships. But by the end of day she was loved. Above all she treasured time spent with her family and was always concerned about taking care of her boys. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Gregory; sons, Bradley Gudmundson (Sarah Rasch), Brian (Noemie) Gudmundson; grandchildren, Sophia Gudmundson, Taylir Rasch; brother, Billy Eveline; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Randy Gudmundson and Roger Eveline.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home, Friday, September 20, 2024. Relatives and friends may meet from 4-6 pm and at 6 pm share stories and memories.
