Germaine Agnes was born November 9, 1937 to Cornelius and Anna (nee: Conrad) Hietpas in Van den Broeck, WI. On September 7, 1958 she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1959 she was given the religious name Sister Jordana. She professed her first vows in 1961 and her final vows in 1967. In 1968 she returned to using her baptismal name, Germaine.

Sister Germaine spent many years in service to others in teaching and chaplaincy. She began her ministry in 1963 at St. John, South Milwaukee, WI. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were St. Rose and St. Joseph, Racine; St. Mary, Janesville; Holy Name, Kimberly; and St. Leo, Milwaukee. In 1985 she started her chaplaincy work first at St. Catherine Hospital, Kenosha and then at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI. She was also very active in the Charismatic renewal in the Green Bay Diocese. From 1995-2000 she was the Coordinator of Life Transitions at Siena Center. In March 2017 she became a resident at Siena Center, Racine and in January 2021 she moved to Francis House at Franciscan Villa in South Milwaukee. In December 2023 she returned to Siena Center.

Sister Germaine is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her brother-in-law Leo Nackers; sister-in-law Rose Hietpas; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Paul, Roger, Omar, Eugene, Kenneth, Merlin and infant brother Vernon Hietpas; and sisters Irene Roffers, Elaine Van Dera, Alice Nackers and Lois Liebergen.

A Remembering Service will be at 8:45am followed by Funeral Service at 10am in the Siena Center Chapel on January 2nd, 2026. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. Memorials to the Racine Dominican Mission Outreach have been suggested.
