Wayne Edward Knapp, age 70, passed away at home with family at his side on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee, WI, February 2, 1954, the 2nd of 5 children of the late Francis and Rose (Nee: Ratayczak) Knapp.

Wayne attended St. Adalbert Elementary School, St. John’s Cathedral High School, and graduated from Pulaski High School, “Class of 1972”. It was in the neighborhood which Wayne grew up that he met a young lady named Sharon Haubert and on April 12, 1975, they were united in marriage.

Wayne was employed by Maynard Steel Casting for 42 years retiring in 2014 as an industrial engineer. He was a member of the American Foundry Assn. Wayne was an all-sports enthusiast who enjoyed bowling, golf and who also spent some time as a lifeguard while in high school. When his boys were young Wayne had served as their Little League Baseball coach. Wayne will be remembered as a man of few words who was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 49 years, Sharon; sons, Benjamin (Kate) Knapp, Alan (Julia) Knapp; grandchildren, Elena, Morgan, Mason, Robyn, and Emilia; siblings, Michael (Nancy) Knapp, David (Judy) Knapp, Theresa Wollert, Jeffrey (Marge) Knapp; in-laws, Charles Haubert, Leonard (Karen) Haubert, Bill Haubert and special sister-in-law, Betty Knapp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Dorothy (Nee:Orr) Haubert and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy (Mike) Brecka.

A memorial service will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 7 pm with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet prior to the service 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Assn or the Boys and Girls Club.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aurora at Home Hospice, and the staff at Center for Neurological Diseases at St. Francis Hospital Milwaukee for their loving and compassionate care.

In Wayne’s honor all are encouraged to enjoy a Korbel and Coke.
