Life Story / Obituary
William D. Hoff, age 87, of Racine, passed away Friday morning, February 28, 2025 at his residence, Primrose Retirement Community, Mt. Pleasant. William was born in Wausau, WI on February 2, 1938, son of the late Elmer and Doris (nee: Vanderleest) Hoff.
Bill was raised in Marshfield, WI and graduated from Columbus HS in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Corporal. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point from 1959-1963 with a teaching degree in English and History. On September 1, 1963 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy May Collins. They shared over sixty years together before Judy passed away on January 12, 2024. From 1963-1997, Bill helped enrich the minds of countless students teaching at Jerstad-Agerholm Junior High School and later served as Principal at different locations. He was a longtime dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church now North Pointe United Methodist and was a member of the Racine Curling Club for thirty years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, visiting friends and sitting out back enjoying the birds chirping and nature. Bill will be remembered for his great ability to teach others, his generous and kind demeanor and his countless letters to keep in touch with everyone.
Surviving are his brother, Thomas Hoff; sister-in-law, Connie Hoff Kolasinski;cousins, Barb Vanderleest, Pat Vanderleest, Mary Vanderleest, Kay Richards, Bob Vanderleest; nieces, Tracey, Tammy, Teri, Kelly, Christine, Ann and Nina; nephews, Troy, Mike, James, Mark, Michael, David and Tad; many great nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends. He is also known as Grandfather to Everett and Elaine, children of friends of his. In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Jim and Jack; his sister-in-law, Pam Hoff; in-laws Elaine and John O’Donnell.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday March 13, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at North Pointe United Methodist Church, 3825 Erie Street, on Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Bill’s Life service to start at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, WI on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Memorials to the Hoff Scholarship Fund at North Pointe United Methodist Church have been suggested.
